City Needs a Leftist

Regarding, “Will this new democratic socialist supervisor become the most progressive leader in S.F.?” (Election, SFChronicle.com, Nov. 7): Jackie Fielder is exactly the candidate San Francisco needs at this moment. As a queer Latina, having her in office is a powerful reminder of the importance of representation, especially for marginalized communities.

Fielder’s lived experiences with housing insecurity and her commitment to progressive policies, free from corporate interests, make her an exceptional advocate for San Francisco’s most vulnerable residents. In a city like ours, where housing, income inequality and systemic racism persist, a leader who understands these struggles is invaluable.

With Donald Trump’s return to the White House, we urgently need leaders who will fight for progressive solutions. San Francisco has seen many moderate policies that fail to address root issues and prioritize profit over people.

Fielder’s vision for reform and her stance against big-money interests bring much-needed hope that change is possible. I was fortunate to volunteer for Jackie’s campaign and witnessed how a grassroots movement can make a difference.

Fielder’s election is proof that organizing works, and together, we can push back against right-wing threats to our city’s values.
